Free Consultation
I offer a free phone or Zoom consultation that usually lasts between 20-60 minutes to understand your goals and situation and answer questions about how we might approach them. If we decide this is a good fit, we’ll proceed to scheduling. Otherwise, I will be happy to provide recommendations and/or referrals.
Hourly Rate
I charge a flat hourly rate commensurate with experienced counselors nationally. However, I will work on a sliding scale based on client income and circumstances. Some of my clients have the benefit of corporate or EAP reimbursement for counseling services; others can submit for out-of-network insurance coverage (I am not currently accepting insurance), so be sure to look into these options if they might apply to you. We’ll negotiate a rate based on your situation.
Process
My approach is tailored to the individual and is not “one-size-fits-all.” However, the vast majority of clients I work with begin with a series of assessments and a first-round resume edit, which I bill separately (see below.) How long we work together will depend on whether we start with high-level career identity exploration, jump straight into a job search, or target something more specific. I’ve worked with clients on everything from getting out from under a toxic boss to pitching a new role within an organization to addressing performance issues related to a mental health diagnosis. Client engagements can run anywhere from 5 meetings to a year pending the situation.
RESUME EDITING
▫️I am not a resume writer; I am a resume coach. I can give you the tools and confidence to build and/or optimize a competitive resume if this is one of your goals.
▫️One of our first sessions will be a bottom-to-top resume and personal history review. I generally follow this up with a first-draft edit before our next session, charging up to one hour of my time pending how long this takes.
▫️From here, we work collaboratively on Google Drive between sessions to finish the resume. I do not bill for this time, and it usually goes fast.
▫️Once the resume is done, we can turn our attention to your LinkedIn profile and cover letter if these are among your goals, working in the same collaborative fashion.
▫️If you would prefer to outsource the resume writing process, I refer to the National Resume Writers Association (https://thenrwa.org) database to find a good-fit writer.
ASSESSMENTS
▫️In most cases, I ask my clients to take up to three assessments: the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Strong Interest Inventory and SkillScan.
▫️The purpose of these assessments is to illuminate how your personality traits, vocational interests, skills confidence and personal values influence your career decisions
▫️The hard cost of all three assessment is $50, billed to you with no mark-up. They take about 20 minutes each to complete online through a third-party vendor.
▫️Upon completion, we will devote one session to reviewing the results and applying them to your situation. My clients invariably find this data eye-opening, and it helps me get to know you better, faster so we can keep moving in the right direction.
